Also included in this tour is the beautiful Lake Natron with its huge population of flamingos and beautiful waterfalls. While exploring the wilderness on game drives and walking safaris, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet different ethnic groups, who will enlighten you with their knowledge of nature and traditional way of life.

You will be met at JKIA Airport in Nairobi, transferred by shuttle bus to the Oasis Lodge/Outpost Lodge in Arusha, where you have the day to relax as the safari starts the next day. This will be followed by an introductory talk and then dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast we head to Tarangire National Park. Tents will be pitched at a campsite in a remote area of the park. This is followed by an afternoon walk close to the park border for first impressions of the majestic African landscape.
Days 3 and 4
Half and full day Walking Safaris guided by an armed ranger and game drives in the park. The park is rich in bird life and depending on the season, wildlife can include elephants, zebras, wildebeest and sometimes even lions!! Overnight at the base camp
Day 5
Depart for Ngorongoro Crater and arrive there in time for a picnic lunch. This is followed by an afternoon game drive on the crater floor! In the evening we set camp at the crater rim.
Day 6
Early morning departure to Olmoti Crater for a half day walk. Here we will occasionally meet Maasai herders on the trek to the waterfalls. In the afternoon we'll proceed to our base camp at Empakaai Crater.
Day 7
The views along the trail downwards to the crater lake of Empakaai are spectacular at every point!! You might see buffaloes, bushbucks, blue monkeys as well as numerous birds. It is a joy to walk around the lake shore experiencing the serenity and quite beauty of this wild spot. Overnight at the base camp
Day 8
From Empakaai we begin the Walking Safari to Lake Natron while donkeys carry our luggage. We descend the outer hills of the Great Rift Valley; walk through the open plains of the Embulbul depression, until we reach our campsite at the village Naiobi. Here we will have opportunity to meet the local Maasai's. Ol Doinyo Lengai and Mount Meru are viewed along the way.
Day 9
We proceed to Oldonyo Lengai, the sole active volcano of Tanzania and the "holy mountain" of the Maasai. After four hours of walking we will reach the foot of the impressive mountain, and pitch our tents at the campsite at the nearby Lake Natron.
Day 10
At around midnight we start to climb the mountain in order to avoid the heat of the sun and reach the top at sunrise. From here we have great views of the surrounding landscape which includes Lake Natron, Mount Meru and even Mount Kilimanjaro!! The crater itself offers a unique spectacle. The crater floor is bubbling and steaming with small volcanoes inside the crater that produce streams of molten lava. We'll make camp at the foot of the mountain.
Day 11
On day 11 we trek to the Ngare Sero River which flows into Lake Natron. In contrast to the surrounding dry landscape, this is a small paradise. After a strenuous walk up the stream, we'll reach the source of the river. Overnight at the Ngare Sero / Kamakia Camp.
Day 12
At 05:30 am we'll drive to Lake Natron to experience the sunrise. After breakfast we'll depart by car to Mto wa Mbu. Here we visit a project initiated by the SNV, an eco- tourism development organisation of the Netherlands. We'll spend a day walking around the Great Rift Valley escarpment whilst getting some insights into the traditional African culture of the people living here. We camp overnight at the campsite of the project or at Fig Resort Campsite
Day 13
Drive back to Arusha, where we arrive in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight at L'oasis Lodge/Outpost Lodge.
