Safari Overview and Information

Mikumi National Park

Mikumi is located just less than 300km from Dar Es Salaam and is a great park to visit for a one-night excursion. Mikumi is rich in wildlife and contains buffalos, elephants and lions. Also found are wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs, hippos, and giraffes. Most of the animals can be seen in all seasons. Elephants can be seen throughout the area, and buffaloes, some 3,000 in total, are found on the treeless grassland.

The Mkate River Floor Plain has hard ridges, swamps and black clay grassland, miombo woodlands lying on the eastern and western hills, and rivers with their fringe of tall trees and dense thickets. The TAZARA (Tanzania-Zambia) railway line marks the boundary of Mikumi with Selous to the south. The park has an area of 3,230 Sq. km and is situated at an altitude of 548 metres above sea level.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam - Mikumi National Park
Pick up from Dar es salaam city center. Proceed to south of Dar es Salaam with picnic lunch. Enjoy an afternoon, game drive of Mikumi National Park. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp (L,D)

Day 2: Game Drive in Mikumi National Park
After breakfast, full day game drive with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp (B,L,D)

Day 3: Mikumi National Park - Dar es Salaam
Morning game drive through the Mikumi National Park with picnic Lunch. Afternoon, return to Dar es Salaam City (B,L).

Included

Accommodation is on full board basis on safari and bed and breakfast on your first day. Transport in 6 -seater minibuses, game drives, park entrance fees for clients, drivers and vehicles. Bottled water on road safaris in the vehicle.

Excludes:
Beverages, tips, all domestic and international flights, airport taxes and visas.  Items of personal nature such as laundry, telephone calls, faxes and anything that is not mentioned on the above itinerary.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation policy is as follows:

• 30 - 15 days: 50% of safari cost
• 15 - 7 days: 75% of safari cost
• Within 7 days or no-show: 100% of safari cost

Children Policy
The child rate applies to children aged between 2 and 12 sharing the rooms with adults.

Participants Info
Clients should bring light clothes due to the heat and also hats, sunglasses and sun screen lotion. Do not forget to collect a warm sweater when traveling.
