Udzungwa Mountain National Park is part of the Eastern Arc Mountain, and is occasionally termed as the “Galapagos Island of Africa”, approximately 70 km (1 hour) drive away from Mikumi. Udzungwa covers about 1990 square kilometres in area. The park is renowned for high bio-diversity of plants and birdlife and 30% of these species are not found anywhere else.

Udzungwa originates from the word “Wadzungwa”, one of the tribes who lives on the slopes of the mountain.
